They will have to set off around the town with a shopping list and a purse of money and purchase goods from different shops.
Meeting at the Masonic Hall in The 1900s Town, the children will be set the task of buying all the items on their shopping list. They will visit a range of shops in the town, purchasing different items in each shop, adding up how much they owe and checking their change is correct! Observations about how different shops are in the past to modern times can be made in each shop, helped by our friendly staff.

There has been a murder! The “body” is to be found in The 1900s Town at Beamish. Clues have been left behind. The students need to tell the inspector what to do to solve the crime.
Inspired by the drawings donated to the museum by the Cornish family, this activity aims to teach students about North East artist Norman Cornish and to make art of their own. Participants will attain the Arts Award Discover as part of this activity.
