We will briefly talk about what life was like 200 years ago and see the types of items made by different skilled crafts people. We will focus on pottery and find out about different items made by a potter, what they are used for and look at how they are decorated.
Season: Summer season (between Easter holidays and October half term)
All children will then have a go on a hand turned pottery wheel and work on a collaborative project, hand building a class plaque. This will be fired by the Museum and returned to the school at the end of the project.

It is 1842 and there are no limits as to who can work in the coal mines. Pupils will discover the working conditions, interview characters who are for and those that are against, then will vote to decide whether legislation should be introduced.

There has been a murder! The “body” is to be found in The 1900s Town at Beamish. Clues have been left behind. The students need to tell the inspector what to do to solve the crime.
